Village Community Church

VILLAGE COMMUNITY CHURCH is a ministry of Faith Legacy Church to seniors in a local, gated retirement community. We’ve faithfully held 50-minute services there, starting at 10:00 AM, every Sunday morning since January of 1996. In mid-2003, we expanded to a 2nd combined service of Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care residents.

When Phil Stevenson was pastor of what is now Faith Legacy, he one day felt a Spirit-nudge to visit this lovely retirement village to ask if they’d like to have church services there. He found that some residents had just recently expressed that very desire. What a confirmation of guidance!

At that time, VCC’s present pastor, David Hatton, was an RN working L&D and studying for ordination. Shortly after volunteering to help the church get started, he became its lead pastor. Later, Terry Brown joined as an assistant pastor, followed soon by Dawn Valerio as minister of worship. All kept their secular jobs and ministered bivocationally.

VCC is a lighthouse for Christ to a fairly large elderly population. While providing residents of various denominations a place for corporate worship and nurture in Scripture, it also offers an avenue for seasoned and developing speakers to exercise their gifts in sharing the Gospel and teaching from God’s Word.

To facilitate these ministry opportunities and to insure the future of this vital outreach, Terry Brown is leading the FLC-VCC Preaching Team at Faith Legacy. If you feel a Spirit-nudge to join this team, let Terry know. If you have other questions about VCC or would like to attend one of our church services, either Terry or Pastor David can answer your questions and give you needed details for your visit. (The village asks us not to publish their name and address online.)
